Yoga Schedule

geM Yoga and Meditation classes are steeped in tradition.  Each class has a theme that seeps into all physical postures, meditations, visualizations, mudras (hand gestures), and mantras (affirmations).  The theme may stem from an anatomical, emotional or mental focus. geM has 28 years of study and practice in Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Kundalini yoga styles.  Classes are always intentional, fluid and never fast paced. geM focuses on each student’s body and uses a variety of props and modifications to help everyone find peace in the pose.  Pranayama (breathwork) and some SOMA Breath elements are embedded into every class. You will feel physically energized, but geM’s classes are meant to heal and balance the whole being- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Wednesdays 9:00 am Hatha yoga/ basic level- This class is for the yogi with the beginner mindset or one recovering from injury, or the yogi who wants to move slower and with more attention to the details of the asanas (postures) and how to modify them to fit their unique body and history.

Thursdays 5:45 pm Prana flow/ all levels- This class is a slow intentional flow with emphasis on restoring, creating and balancing our energetic body as well as the physical one.  Expect pranayama (breath practices), mudras (hand gestures), and reflective themes.

Saturdays 8:00 am Prana flow/ all levels- This class is a slow intentional flow with emphasis on restoring, creating and balancing our energetic body as well as the physical one. Expect pranayama (breath practices), mudras (hand gestures), and reflective themes.

From yoga in the lavender field, to longer SOMA workshops and special events to celebrate the seasonal changes, these are not your typical yoga classes. SOMA Breath is a comprehensive breath practice to help you awaken your own inner pharmacy. Through music, movement, guided visualizations, intention setting, AUM chanting, rhythmic breathing and intermittent hypoxia training, we create physiological, emotional and brain change to help us live the life we want to live.

Unlocking Psychedelic States Without Substances: Cambridge Study Reveals Transformative Power of SOMA Breathwork

The University of Cambridge conducted a comprehensive study on SOMA Breath’s 21-Day Awakening Protocol, revealing that structured breathwork can induce altered states of consciousness similar to those produced by psychedelic substances. Key findings include:

  • Increased Neural Complexity: Participants exhibited heightened Lempel-Ziv complexity in brain activity during breathwork sessions, indicating richer and more diverse neural patterns akin to those observed during psychedelic experiences.
  • Positive Phenomenological States: Individuals reported enhanced feelings of bliss, insightfulness, and spiritual experiences, particularly during breath-hold phases.
  • Reduction in Negative Experiences: Over the course of the study, there was a notable decrease in negative physical and mental states, such as anxiety and boredom, as participants continued their breathwork practice.

These results suggest that SOMA Breath’s techniques can elicit profound mental and emotional experiences, offering a potential non-pharmacological alternative to psychedelics for therapeutic applications.

Energetic Meditation- Offered live in person $15 and live online via ZOOM  $10.  a one hour thematic session with elevating music, ambidexterous movement and dance, AUM chanting, guided meditation and visualizations and 2-3 rounds of rhythmic breathing and IHT.  

SOMA Breath Journey- a 90-120  minute live-in-person session similar to the Energetic Meditation but designed to go deeper into the experience with 4-5 rounds of rhythmic breathing. $25

Daily Dose- a 30 minute online session via ZOOM. 5 minutes of ambidextrous movement and dance, 5 minutes of AUM chanting, 2 rounds of rhythmic breathing- all set to a theme with guided medtitaitons and visualizations . $7

Initial consultation -  Meet for 60 minutes either online or in person to complete an ayurvedic dosha test and intake questionnaire.  Talk about personal obtainable goal(s) . I explain the weekly meeting and daily protocol.  Lesson on SOMA breath routine. Be guided through one round of SOMA breath.

Weekly meeting- scheduled 90-120 minutes on Zoom.  Talk about goals and themes. Reflect on how the prior week(s) activities and guides are going.  Share new guides each week for diet, movement, sleep, and breathwork specific to individualized goal plan.  Guides might include: diverse physical exercises and dancing, journaling, visualizations, mantras (affirmations), mudras (hand positions), yoga, chanting AUM, dietary additions/substitutions/restrictions based on your dosha and ayurvedic principles, and brainwave entrainment music.  Practice any new guides together to ensure confidence in daily expectations. Be led in a personalized guided meditation and 2-3 rounds of rhythmic breathing followed by exhale retentions and inhale retentions.  Working with intermittent hypoxia is a powerful way to create physiological and brain changes.  Answer questions.  

Forever Folder- My weekly individualized coaching plan will be shared each week, so you can revisit topics and information discussed as a review or in the future. Recorded Zoom meetings or mp3 recordings of guided breathwork meditation and music will be shared to the folder weekly.  At the end of the month, you will have everything I share with you to keep forever.

Follow-up meeting- About a week after our four weeks of coaching, I will check in to see how you are living. We’ll reconnect to see what daily practices you are continuing, or if further services are desired.

Meg has been a coach in many facets of her 48 years. As an educator with a master's degree in education, she has many years of teaching experience from first grade to adult education.  She has been dubbed "Meg the Motivator" for her enthusiasm in helping others achieve success.  She has studied and completed all 5 levels of SOMA breath certifications.  She has learned about and helped to heal her own inflammation, gut, arthritis, and perimenopause issues through an ayurvedic approach, homeopathy, herbs, SOMA breath and yoga. There is no "one size fits all" approach to health and wellness as we are all unique. It is Meg's goal to help you understand what lifestyle practices are best for you to live a healthy and well life. Everything she shares with you will be yours forever.

Reiki

 The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."  Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  Reiki is shared with no touch or a light touch of the reiki practitioner’s palms on the participant’s body.  A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.  While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

"You are so senesitive".  I have heard these words my whole life, and much of my physical discomforts and autoimmune illness has been due to my empathetic nature. I am a super sensitive person.  I am very aware of and affected by other people's moods and energy.  Fortunately, due to my innate desire to learn more to help myself live better, I have studied and practiced my way to Reiki Master Practioner.

Now I give myself reiki attunements weekly to strengthen my energetic field (aura) to protect and to restore my energy. I share reiki with others to help them balance and heal their energy however I am guided to.
